Here are some suggestions for dances that can be taught directly after completing "The Beginners Dance Programme". They are in three groups A, B and C - each group is in alphabetical order and NO teaching order is suggested or intended. Group A is the easiest group and Groups B and C are progresively harder dances.
There are NO tags, bridges or re-starts in any of the dances and all are suitable for beginners moving on to improver level, depending on various circumstances.
Group A are the dances that I would strongly suggest could be taught directly after "The Beginners Dance Programme" - for various reasons. Group B, or at least some of them, are dances that I would suggest are well worth teaching. Group C are a general list of 30 suitable dances that would be really enjoyed and are/have been very widely done. Nevertheless, all 60 dances are just suggestions.
The majority of the 60 dances suggested are classics or without exception are dances that have been very widely done and enjoyed and many of these will almost certainly become classics, which increases the chances that new improvers will really enjoy them. To the new improver these are NEW and fresh dances.
GROUP A are 15 dances that are largely very easy for the improver who has already mastered the 30 dances in the Beginners Dance Programe." Electric Slide and Cowgirl Twist are early beginners dances that are "must learn" dances and at this stage will be learned extremely quickly and enjoyed. Waltz Across Texas, County Line Cha Cha and Red Hot Salsa are such good dances and classics that they are almost certain to be really enjoyed. Almost all of the 15 have important features that help the improver to continue to progress such as the two half monterey turns in Native American, the long steps and rhythm change in Jazzy Joes and the ten step repeat in One Step Forward
GROUP B are dances that are harder than group A. Some key "must learn" classics are included - such as Black Coffee, Tush Push, Ribbon Of Highway and Coastin'.
GROUP C are a general list of 30 suitable dances to follow Groups A and B that would almost certainly be enjoyed. Many are key classics.
