**"AB AB" is a BRAND NEW ABSOLUTE BEGINNER DANCE**

AB AB is a really easy and fun, one wall Absolute Beginners dance without a grapevine in sight. Written by Val Myers and Deana Randle (May 2008) The main track is "Built For Blue Jeans" by Tyler Dean on Line Dance Fever 17 - there is also one other suggested track. Both tracks are easily available on Napster, itunes etc. You can find the stepsheet here.

"SIMPLY MAMBO" - CRYSTAL BOOT AWARD WINNER 2007

I am extremely proud to say that SIMPLY MAMBO won the prestigious Linedancer magazine "Crystal Boot Award" for Absolute Beginner Dance of the year for 2007. It is a fun, very easy beginners dance, written with DEANA RANDLE. It goes particularly well to "Tequila" & is good for teaching Mambo steps. You can find the stepsheet here. Click here for a video.

      "THE BEGINNERS DANCE PROGRAMME"

Like anything else Line Dancing is enjoyed best if it is learned properly from the start. The easiest approach to learning is via a properly structured and progressive programme. The ideal syllabus is the beginners line dance programme including the A-B Series which was created and developed by Val Myers. The complete programme of 30 dances for teaching line dancing to Beginners was written in 2002 as no other such published programme existed.

THE KEY PHILOSOPHY BEHIND THE BEGINNERS LINE DANCE PROGRAMME AND THE A-B SERIES IS TO TEACH ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS "TO LINE DANCE" NOT JUST TO TEACH THEM "SOME LINE DANCES"!!

The beginners line dance programme is widely tried and tested and once mastered in full, provides a thorough base for progression to more difficult dances.

In fact TWO options are available. They are THE BEGINNERS DANCE PROGRAMME of 30 dances or a faster alternative - THE FAST TRACK BEGINNERS DANCE PROGRAMME of 15 dances.

However, both are just examples and a flexible approach is best. A fast learning class may only need a few weeks and a selection of 15 or even less dances. A more "mature" or slower group may need all 30 dances and many months to master them. The programme simply provides a clear structure and progression in appropriate building blocks.

Please feel free to download or print out these programmes. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated - email vmyers at dsl.pipex.com.

            "THE A - B SERIES"

The first five of the 30 dances in the programme are for Absolute Beginners and are known as the A-B Series and it is best to start with these:-

Here is an article which was published in Linedancer Magazine in April 2003 describing and explaining the A - B Series.:- Absolute Beginners: A Suggested Teaching Approach
